Jackie Marshall aka The Peppercorn Queen & The Fat Lambs + Sarah Carroll & Lamb Zero!
SATURDAY 20TH DECEMBER
FREE ENTRY, SHOWTIME 9PM
Ladies and gentle men: enter The Peppercorn Queen (aka Brisbane's Jackie Marshall), bending country rock'n'roll into a livid, anarchic and soul-fillingly revelatory experience. Aided and abetted by The Fat Lambs, this music fearlessly covers such diverse territories as The Who’s “Dreaming From The Waist”, to a little known George Jones country entreaty called “Seasons of My Heart”. With plenty of spirited original titles thrown in – the politically lenient “Good People”, the down-at-heart blue shirted “Ode Canadia”, and the hands-in-the-air-like-you-just-don’t-care redemption song “Still F*cking UP!” among the fray, The Peppercorn Queen et The Fat Lambs call upon you to get amongst it, kiss that working week goodbye, and get down to that most serious business of laughing dancing and air-punching the night away. Yeah!!More...
ANDREW NOLTE & HIS ORCHESTRA
SUNDAY 21st DECEMBER
PERFORMING 2 X SETS FROM 5PM
Performing since 2009, Andrew Nolte, his saxophone and his novelty dance orchestra have performed jazz festivals, jazz clubs, and live music venues to an astonishing amount of appreciation. The band, consisting of 8 highly trained musicians, features a cavalcade of roaring brass, wailing saxophones and a banjo, sousaphone, trap kit rhythm section that cannot be beat for authentic vintage style and taste. Playing from intricate original orchestrations from the Gatsby era, the band boasts an extensive repertoire to evoke any mood of the 1920s desired by any dancer, vintage lover, cocktail addicts etc. With its roots set deep in the post war era, when the wireless was king, the screen still silent, the bands influences can be found on any old shellac 78 disc from the period. Authenticity being a large focus of the group, enjoyment, amusement and a general great time are its greatest results as proven by the bands recent successes. Whether you are an afficianado or new to this crazy music, you will certainly find a new love for this often neglected period of popular music.More...
